THE GAME

"2121" is a multiplayer serious game that nurtures active citizenship among digitally-savvy youth in the 21st century. This serious game's mission is to advance civic literacy and involve young people around the world in becoming informed, engaged, and responsible local and global citizens. The game is available in English, Arabic and French.

The game's educational content is a comprehensive civic education curriculum, categorized into three strands: Dignity, equality, and sustainable development; Governance; and Active citizenship

HR AND SD

The first educational strand covers Human Rights and Sustainable Development, including Fundamental rights, Children and refugee rights, environmental protection and many more.

GOVERNANCE

The governance strand is dedicated to several fundamental principles related to elections, branches of government, separation of powers, the rule of law and many more.

ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP

The third strand engages players in ideas for concrete actions they can take in order to apply what they have learnt, and improve their societies.

2121 WORLD

Set a century from now in a world ravaged by climate change, out-of-control technological progress, and conflicts, "2121" provides an enthralling and secure environment for young players to explore solutions to urgent global challenges. Participants step into a creatively designed fictional world and are challenged to shape its destiny through collaboration and competition, construction and disruption, failure, and perseverance.

The game engages players in a fictional challenge between three epic camps.

CAMP KWAN

KWAN camp is inhabited and jointly ruled by humans and friendly Humanimals. Their highly ambitious plan is to revive the Earth’s glorious green days of mild climate, water abundance and biodiversity. They believe that they can achieve this through tolerance, inclusiveness, and cultural superiority.

CAMP TIWA

TIWA is home to the robust humanimals: genetically engineered, they are a crossbreed of intelligent humans and strong animals that can adapt to harsh environments. The humanimals in camp Tiwa are constantly at work on improving their DNA to accelerate evolution. A strongly elitist society that strives for perfectionism and meritocracy, they despise robots and see humans as obsolete. They see the Humanimals not aligned with their camp as traitors.

CAMP XON

XON is inhabited by the heartless robots: hyper smart, self-governed and disciplined machines, they are the product of out of control technological innovation and have developed an artificial super-intelligence far superior to humans. Driven by big data, this camp aims at world, and ultimately space hegemony, believing they alone can protect the earth from take over by extraterrestrials through technological progress, collectivism and expansionism.
